Saudi crown prince determined to press ahead with reforms
Saudi Arabia, Politics, 1/15/2004

Saudi Arabia's crown prince yesterday gave a televised speech to the Saudis on the occasion of the end of the "second national meeting for intellectual dialogue," recently held in Mecca, and announced that the Kingdom "is pursuing a gradual reform policy, and will not permit any one to stand in the face of reforms."

Crown Prince Abdullah described the dialogue forum, which was held in Mecca recently, as "a representation of the spirit of Islamic fraternity and national unity, and that the dialogue is being held in an atmosphere of amity and reciprocated respect.."

He indicated that the meeting ended up with "constructive recommendations that support national unity and enhance values of dialogue, tolerance, and these recommendations will get due respect and support from the state. I am looking forward to convening the next meeting in al-Madina al-Munawarra to discuss two important issues of education and women."
