Yemen supports giving Iran the observer seat at the AL

An official at the Yemeni foreign ministry announced yesterday that Yemen welcomes Iran's request to participate in the Arab League as an observer member.
The official told the Yemeni official news agency that "Yemen notified the AL about its consent on the Iranian request, and also its welcome of the participation of any Islamic state at the AL as an observer member." The official added that "this participation is to enhance the role of the Arab League, and the fraternal cooperation between the Arab and Islamic states."
The spokesman for the Iranian foreign ministry Hamid Rida Asifi said on Sunday that Iran asked for the participation in the AL as an observer.
