Egypt- Libya complete elimination of customs fees and restrictions
Egypt-Libya, Economics, 8/13/2003

Egypt and Libya have signed a trade and customs agreement for exempting commodities from all customs fees and removing all customs and non- customs restrictions with the aim to double bilateral trade.

On the Egyptian side the agreement was signed by the minister of foreign trade Youssef Butrous Ghali and for Libya, the agreement was signed by Abdul Qader Omar al-Kheir, the secretary of the people's committee for economy, in conclusion of meetings of the Egyptian- Libya joint trade committee yesterday in Cairo.

The two sides also signed a memorandum of understanding to establish units for settling trade disputes so as to ensure quick resolution to settle any difference and remove all obstacles that might arise during the implementation of any trade deal.

Worthy mentioning that this agreement will replace the trade agreement finalized between the two states in 1990.
