Israeli tanks in Jenin; 3 Palestinian killed; five buildings demolished

Three Palestinians were killed yesterday in two incursion operations carried out by the Israeli armored vehicles in each of Jenin in the West Bank and Khan Younis in Gaza, during which also citizens were humiliated, four buildings were demolished and scores of houses damaged. This was hours before the meeting of the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon and the Palestinian Mahmoud Abbas to discuss means of implementing the Roadmap.

A security source explained that 15 armored vehicles and several bulldozers incurred for 100 meters in lands under the Palestinian control in al-Qarrara town. A security source indicated that the Israeli army carried out a large scale breaking in operation during which its members attacked Palestinian citizens, detained more than 20 and leveled arable lands in the town.

Meantime, Palestinian medical sources said that the Israeli army killed one Palestinian Youth in al-Qarrara to the north of Khan Younis in Gaza. Dr. Mu'aweya Hasanin, the director of the emergency section at al-Shefaa hospital in Gaza said that the person is Muhammad Jad al-Qidra ( 25 year old) from al-Qarrara town. A Palestinian security source said the Israeli army destroyed by explosives four residential houses in Tel Zaareb area near the border strip in Rafah while one Palestinian was wounded by the Israeli army fire.

In Beit Hanoun, which has been under the Israeli occupation for the second week, the Israeli army continued works of demolishing agricultural lands, especially olive and citrus orchards, according to the security sources.

Palestinian medical and security sources said that one Palestinian was killed and another wounded when an Israeli tank opened fire at the downtown of Gaza on Thursday evening.

On the other hand, an Israeli military spokesman said the Israeli army launched yesterday at Jenin a large scale operation in Jenin in order to "dismantle the infrastructure of the terrorist organizations in Jenin which were preparing for attacks." The Israeli military spokesman said the Israeli military killed one armed Palestinian revealed to be "an activist" in the organization of the armed group which is linked to Fatah. However, a local official in the Islamic Jihad movement and Palestinian medical sources confirmed that the Palestinian who was killed in Jenin's confrontation is called Fahmi Fahmawi ( 23 year old) an activist in the Islamic Jihad. The sources added that these confrontations erupted with the incursion of some 20 Israeli tanks and jeep cars into the city.
