Highest Egyptian judicial commission agrees to cancel state security courts

News reports in Egypt said yesterday that the highest judicial commission in Egypt approved a suggestion proposed by the ruling party aiming at canceling the state security courts law.

The higher council for the judicial committees which in particular is composed of heads of courts and is presided over by the minister of justice Farouk Seif al Naser approved a draft law for abrogating a law related to the founding of the state security courts.

Gamal Mubarak, son of the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who is in charge of important functions within the ruling democratic national party announced in March that the party "recommended the abrogation of law no. 105 issues in 1980" regarding the state security courts.

After the approval of the higher council for the judicial committees, the draft law will be submitted to the parliament and will be then ratified by President Mubarak after approval by the parliament.

The sources explained that the draft law aims at ending the state security courts system but does not speak about the file of the courts of the Supreme state council which were formed according to the emergency law, whose verdicts are cannot be appealed.
