Russian, French, German reject expelling Iraqi diplomats
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 3/22/2003
The spokesman for the French foreign ministry on Friday announced that Paris had refused an American request to expel Iraqi diplomats from France.
Francois Revaso said that "France has received a request from the American authorities to expel the Iraqi diplomats and close the Iraqi embassy in Paris." He added that France considers this request as relating to its own sovereignty and so far "there is no reason to implement it."
Meantime, the Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov announced yesterday that Russia will reject the expulsion of the Iraqi diplomats if it receives an official American request to this effect.
In the same context, a spokesman for the German foreign ministry announced that the German government rules out " at the meantime expelling all Iraqi diplomats existed on its territories, as requested by the USA."
