Iraq-UN, Politics, 2/24/2003
International agency for Atomic Energy Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei remarked that he might resign from his post if war against Iraq starts without an authorizations by the UN Security Council.
In an interview with the German new magazine Der Spiegel issued today, replying to a question on that matter, he said "I do not practice such trick. However I do not rule any thing." He added "I still persistently think that peace still has a chance ahead. War means that international diplomacy and politics have completely failed."
He said he is with the continued military pressure on Iraq. He indicated that Iraq's co-operation "has improved in recent days.. It seems that they ( the Iraqis ) have recognized that the situation is grave."
