Saudi - Sudanese agreement on comprehensive cooperation

Following Eid al-Fiter in December, Sudan and Saudi Arabia will sign a cooperation agreement that will cover all walks of life. An agreement described by the Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman Ismael as the first of its kind in relations between the two states.

The agreement which was approved by the Sudanese Cabinet aims at consolidating ties of friendship between the two states and promotion of cooperation and supporting it in the economic, trade, investment, educational, scientific, cultural, media, information and tourism fields as well as youths and sports.

In the economic field, the agreement call for encouraging cooperation in all economic fields including industrial, petrochemical, mineral, agriculture, livestock, and tourism fields and health.

In the trade area, the two states encourage and facilitate investments of their citizens in all fields, except areas excluded according to internal laws in their respective countries, together with guaranteeing the liberty of transferring money from their two countries and not to take measures that will prohibit investors from owning his capital, wholly or partially or preventing investors from transferring these sums.

The agreement also states to encourage cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research and technology through exchanging information and visits, training of personnel and taking part in scientific seminars and conferences.

In the sport field, the agreement states encouraging cooperation in these areas through coordinating stances in international arenas and exchange of programs, visits and expertise.

The agreement also stated to form a joint committee in order to follow up the implementation of this agreement which will be valid for five years and renewed automatically every year.
