A high ranking officials at the Kuwaiti ministry of defense said that the Kuwaiti army is ready to protect Kuwait against any likely aggression.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Kuwaiti daily al-Watan, the Kuwaiti official said that several anti- missiles patriot missiles were deployed in preparation against any likely attack that might take place and to protect the lives of Kuwaiti citizens and residents in Kuwait and the key establishments in the country.

Meantime, Kuwait's Minister of State For Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, announced that his country will not oppose a decision by the UN permitting directing an attack against Iraq. This was expressed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Kuwaiti daily al-Watan.

Sheikh Sabah told the paper that if the UN Security Council decides to direct a military attack to the Iraqi regime, no one will be able to prevent that, nor oppose a resolution issued by the UN Security Council.

The Kuwaiti minister, who is also the deputy premier, made his statement before the declaration in New York by the UN on Iraq's unconditional acceptance to the return of the UN inspectors who pulled out from Iraq in December 1998. He added "we are all members in this international organization and we do not forget that the liberation of Kuwait was through the UN and the Security Council." He continued "Kuwait is part of the international organization ( the UN) and if a decision is issued by it, there will be no opposition from Kuwait, nor anyone."
