Morocco, Bahrain to Enhance Information, Culture, Tourism Cooperation
Bahrain-Morocco, Politics, 1/10/2002

Morocco and Bahrain agreed to enhance their cooperation in matters of information, culture and tourism.

The decision was made at a meeting in Manama between Moroccan Minister of culture and communication, Mohamed Achaari, and his Bahraini peer, Nabil Ben Yacoub Al-Hamr.

The minutes signed at the end of the meeting provide for exchange of information, expertise and technical data in the sector of information, and for the setting up of a joint information commission, reported the Bahraini news agency.

They also provide for the consolidation of cooperation between the two states' radio and TV channels, for encouraging joint audio-visual programs production, and for easing the distribution of newspapers and magazines in either country.

The two sides also agreed to encourage cooperation in archeological excavations and the holding of cultural weeks and book fairs.

In the sector of tourism, the two sides decided to encourage cruises between Morocco and Bahrain and to urge the two states' businessmen to explore joint investment opportunities.

Achaari is visiting Bahrain on the occasion of the holding of a Moroccan cultural week in Manama Jan.7-11. The Moroccan delegation also includes advisor to the King, Abbas Jirari.
