King Mohammed congratulates Algerian president on national day

King Mohammed VI sent President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria a message of congratulations on the occasion of his country's National Day.

The sovereign wished the Algerian president good health and happiness and the Algerian People further progress, prosperity and quietude.

"I seize this opportunity to recall the close brotherly solidarity which united our two countries during the struggle for national liberation, thanks to which our two peoples succeeded to snatch a blatant victory over colonialism and to recover their sovereignty and dignity," King Mohammed VI said, underlining the two peoples' aspiration to the edification of a united Arab Maghreb, on the path of development and progress, and to a radiant future likely to "enable our two countries materialize the complementarity we aspire to."

"We are confident that our peoples' legitimate aspiration to build up their future on the basis of exemplary cooperation and neighborliness will remain the flagship prompting us to reactivate all the mechanisms of communication and dialogue in order to fulfil our common goal, that of building up a strong Maghreban union, enabling us to take up the challenges, on the basis of the shared religion, history and civilization heritage," King Mohammed VI said, adding "we pray the Almighty to assist us fulfil our Maghreban peoples' aspirations to development, progress, glory and prosperity."
