Arab actress Suad Hosni died at 58

Renowned Egyptian actress ( of Syrian origin from al-Baba family) Suad Hosni died in London on Friday afternoon following a long journey of sufferings with diseases that prevented her from continuing her artistic activities since 10 years.

The Egyptian TV stopped its programs to announce the death of actress Hosni who was born in 1943. She had several titles during her eventful artistic life including " the Sindarilla of the Arab movie. " The Egyptian TV said that President Mubarak took a decision to take necessary measures to return back the body of the late actress Hosni to Egypt.

The late actress was a sister for the well-known Singer ( Najat al-Saghira ).

She was discovered as a talented actress by Henry Barakt and had her first movie star on the screen in 1959 in his Film " Hassan and Na'emah." She starred 75 films and was the first actress who could keep her film co-starred with Hussein Fahmi one full year on show (1972- 1973).

Her last film was the " Shepherd and the women ( al-Rai' wal-Nisaa" in 1991, co-starred by Ahmad Zaki and actress Yusra despite her great illness.

Critics considered Suad Hosni as the best Egyptian actresses as nine of her films were chosen among the best 100 films in the history of the Egyptian cinema.

Suad Hosni could also play tragic and comic roles and was brilliant in her shows that made of her the best for the young generation along her life span.

She had a disease in her back-bone since 1988 and she had as a result depression.

Four years ago she moved to London for treatment. Rumors said that she could no more afford the high cost of her medical treatment after the government's offer was no more enough to cover all needed medical costs. A matter that obliged her to work while in bed of her illness.

She recorded many programs in her own voice while in hospital for one of the Arab radio stations.

Worthy mentioning, actress Hosni married film-maker Ali Badrakhan by the late 1960s and the scenarist Maher Awad before she got the disease.
