Buraq Wall an Islamic endowment

Mufti of Egypt Nasr Farid Wasil stressed that 'Buraq' Wall is part of Al Aqsa Mosque and it is an Islamic endowment.

Hence, it is impermissible in the eyes of Sharia (Islamic Law) to restore it or to be possessed by any non-Islamic quarter. Wasil's view in this regard goes along with the Fatwa (Formal Sharia-related opinion) issued by Jerusalem Mufti Sheikh Ekrimah Sabry, in which he says that Al Buraq Wall is part of Al Aqsa's western wall and that the whole walls of Al Aqsa are Islamic endowments, Ekrimah pointed out that Messenger of Allah Muhammad (may peace be upon him) had honoured and blessed that place by tying Al Buraq to the wall, during Night Journey and Nocturnal Ascent (Isra Wa Al Mi'raj).

Hence, Ekremah stressed that Buraq Wall belongs to Muslims alone in the four corners of the earth till Judgment Day. Ekremah, hence, stresses that we neither admit nor acknowledge that Jews possess it (Buraq Wall) and, also we admit that there is no stone there dates back to Hebrew history.

Ekremah makes it clear that Israeli sovereignty over Buraq is due to its occupation. Hence, it is impermissible for any non-Islamic part to restore or possess it.

Ekremah adds in the Fatwa that calling 'Buraq wall' wailing wall is an extraneous calling and bears indications against belief. Hence, all Muslims and mass media should abide by the Islamic calling, Buraq Wall and drop the false calling. Along the same vein, Ekremah had sent Wasil a copy of the Fatwa which the latter inked.
