Moroccan mosques open to faithful non-stop from dawn to night-prayer
Morocco, Religion, 6/9/2000
The Moroccan Endowments and Islamic Affairs department announced Thursday mosques throughout the kingdom will, henceforth, be open to the faithful from the "Sobh," early morning prayer to one hour after the last night-prayer "Al Ichaa."
The move, says a release from the department, is an overture onto society providing wider religious guidance to fight ignorance and illiteracy.
Associations and individuals will be able to preach and teach reading and writing skill to men and women inside mosques with a duly delivered permit from the provincial ulema (theologians) council, the release said.
