Arafat calls for US intervention to break impasse of the Palestinian -Israeli talks

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat urged the USA to help break the impasse in the peace process on the Palestinian track. A Palestinian source told ArabicNews.com today that Arafat emphasized the importance of US participation in preventing the escalation of the situation, especially during the current period. The source added that Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak's government caused a disappointment to the Palestinian side and to the world by not implementing its peace commitments.
