US House Speaker trip to Syria criticized by White House
Asked that the US Congressional House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in Beirut today that she's criticizing the White House for what she says is ignoring other Republican lawmakers who have made trips to Syria in recent days. And, also, she said she thinks it's a good idea to establish facts and to try to build confidence with Syria. Why is that not a good idea?

Granting opposition veto power amounts to political suicide
Head of the Future Bloc in Parliament MP Saad Hariri said granting the opposition a veto power in the government amounts to political suicide, and stressed that the ongoing confrontation against the assassination of Prime Minister Rafic Hariri and plans to alter Lebanon’s Arab and sovereign identity and its free economy will require time.

Detained journalist charged in court with weakening national sentiment
Reporters Without Borders has condemned the three charges that were formally brought against detained writer and journalist Michel Kilo in a criminal court in Damascus on 26 March 2007 for signing the "Beirut-Damascus, Damascus-Beirut" joint statement in May 2006.
