Some 10,000 candidates for parliamentary elections in Syria on Sunday
More than 10,000 Syrian candidates are competing over 250 seats at the Syrian People's Assembly ( parliament ) on March 2nd in the first parliamentary elections organized in Syria since President Bashar al-Assad assumed power in July 2000.

After Iraq ends up postponing request, Syria to participate in the Summit
It seemed yesterday that the road has become paved before the convening of the Arab summit in Sharm Esh Sheikh next Saturday. After Iraq's approval to attend and give up its request to postpone the summit for two weeks, and assertions made by the Arab League that the summit will concentrate on the resolutions of the Beirut's summit concerning the "case between Kuwait and Iraq," Syria has announced its determination to take part, as well as Lebanon, the summit's current President.
