Sudanese government has not yet given green light for Darfur assessment
The Sudanese Government has not yet given the green light for an assessment team to prepare for a United Nations peacekeeping force in its strife-torn Darfur region and Secretary-General Kofi Annan is sending two high-level officials to Khartoum, the capital, for intensified talks next week, a spokesman said yesterday.

Sudanese rebel groups recruiting refugees Chad camps
Rebel groups are reportedly continuing to recruit men and boys in camps in Chad that shelter 200,000 Sudanese who have fled the fighting in the Darfur region of their own country, and the Chadian Government must take all necessary steps to stop such activities, the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) said today.
