The Sudanese government said it is optimistic over the possibility of reaching a peace agreement in April with the two main rebel movements in Darfur area west of the country.

Sudan welcomes African Union decision on forces in Darfur
An Egyptian government report noted that Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit said that Egypt welcomes, in principle, the decision of the African Union to transfer the AU forces mission in Darfur, Sudan, to UN forces, noting the resolution stresses "the necessity of Khartoum endorsing" such a transfer if it is to occur.
