Sylva Keer, a past separatist, vows Sudan's unity

The Presidential Affairs Ministry in Sudan said that Sylva Keer will take his constitutional oath-of-office tomorrow in the capital Khartoum as a First Vice President of the country and a chairman for the government of southern Sudan in succession of the late John Garang.

Washington commends Sylva Keer separatist attitude
The special envoy for the US under secretary of state to Sudan, Roger Winter, expressed optimism that the death of vice president John Garang will not undermine the implementation of the peace agreement which Garang signed in January putting an end to the longest civil war in Africa.
