Khartoum agreement with one rebel group, prepares for an attack in Darfur
The Sudanese government yesterday recorded a political breakthrough in Darfur by signing a peace agreement with one rebel group which does not take part in Abuja negotiations, amid accusations for Khartoum of the responsibility concerning the deterioration of the security situation in the district.

Amnesty International: African union failed in achieving security in Darfur
In a statement on Thursday, the Amnesty International accused the African Union mission which supervises the cease fire in Darfur of failure, noting that it has not succeeded in protecting the civilians and controlling attacks in this district which is situated to the west of Sudan.

Khartoum proposes federation, Darfur rebels suspend the negotiations
Khartoum said it will propose the federal solution in the negotiations which were resumed with the rebels of Darfur amid a stalemate in the negotiation operation, because of the reciprocated accusations of violating the cease- fire between the two sides.

Mubarak, Bashir discussed efforts to solve Darfur issue
The spokesman for the Egyptian presidency Majid Abdul Fattah announced that the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak held yesterday in Cairo talks on Darfur with his Sudanese counterpart Omar Hassan al-Bashir who paid a short visit to Egypt. After al-Bashir arrived in Cairo yesterday morning he left it immediately following his meeting with Mubarak.
