The rebels of Sudan and the Sudanese government have postponed the signing of a cease fire agreement which was due in Mashakos on Monday over differences on how to monitor the implementation of the agreement, while the presidents of Sudan, Eritrea and Ethiopia started a tripartite summit coinciding with the escalation of tension between the three said countries and Eritrea.

Sudan announced it holds Eritrean prisoners who were fighting beside the rebels in the eastern parts of the country, while the warring Sudanese sides are expected to sign a peace agreement today in order to halt the fighting, during the negotiations aiming at suspending the war which erupted 19 years ago.

Kasla governor says rebels may attack again
Lt. Gen. Adams Hamid Mousa, the Wali (governor) of Kasla, east Sudan, said that it is not ruled out that the rebel movement will carry out another military operation with the support of the Eritrean army before the resumption of negotiations between the government and the rebels in Mashakos, Kenya.
