2.5 million pilgrims in Saudi Arabia
Despite the announcement made by the Saudi authorities that it had spent billions of dollars to improve the conditions for receiving Muslim pilgrims, with the introduction of public health utilities and new constructed roads, however, incidents have increased with the increasing number of pilgrims which doubled 11 folds during the 15 past years to 2.5 million pilgrims.

A Saudi official said that number of persons killed in the building collapse incident of Lou'lo'at al-Kheir hotel in Mecca increased to 74 while other 64 were reported injured.

20 pilgrims killed in hotel collapse in Mecca
The number of pilgrims killed in the collapse of Lou'louat al-Kheir" (the pearl of the good) hotel in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, increased at least 20, while other 59 were reported as injured at a time when scores of rescue men continued their attempts to find survivors from the incident which comes three days before the beginning of traditional al-Haj Islamic rituals.

1.3 million pilgrims arrive in Saudi Arabia for al-Haj rituals

The supreme judicial council in Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday that Eid al-Adha (holiday) for this year will fall on January 10th, and that pilgrims standing on mount Arafat, the most important of al-Haj rituals will occur on Monday January 9th.
