US Church considers divesting from corporations tied to violence against Palestinians
A committee of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has chosen five multinational corporations -- Caterpillar, Citigroup, ITT Industries, Motorola and United Technologies -- for "progressive engagement" about business practices believed to contribute to violence in Israel and Palestine, the church said.

Haaretz: 4 civilians killed by Israeli soldier opposed to Gaza withdrawal
Haaretz reported today that a Jewish Israel Defense Forces soldier, Eden Natan-Zada, "killed four people and wounded 12 in the Israeli Arab town of Shfaram on Thursday."

Israel detains al-Jihad spokesman
The Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank detained the spokesman for the Islamic Jihad movement, according to Palestinian security sources. The sources explained that the Israeli forces took Khuder Omran to prison after he was arrested during a raid on Ramullah.

New Israeli plan to expand settlements

UN rights experts call on Israel to remove barrier on occupied Palestinian territory
A group of United Nations human rights experts today called on Israel to dismantle the barrier it is building in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and to make reparation for all damage caused, stressing that continued construction constitutes a violation of the country's human rights obligations.

Egyptian security trains Palestinian security forces
A delegation of Egyptian officers arrived in the Gaza Strip Wednesday via Rafah crossing to follow up the training of Palestinian security forces formed by the Palestinian Authority to maintain law and order in the areas to be evacuated by the Israeli forces in mid-August.
