IMF formally approves debt forgiveness plan for Mauritania
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a plan to forgive $4.8 billion in debts of the world's poorest countries early in 2006 as part of a debt-cancellation initiative launched by the Group of Eight (G8) countries.

Mauritania president at Islamic summit in Saudi Arabia
The chairman of the military council for the ruling Justice And Democracy Council in Mauritania Col. Ala Weld Muhammad Faal headed for Saudi Arabia in order to take part in the special summit of the Organization of the Islamic Conference OIC due on Wednesday and Thursday.
