The Mauritanian ministry of the interior issued a permit to lisence the Democratic Forum ( Hizb al-Multaqa al-Demoqrati) led by Sheikh al-Mukhtar Weld Hurma after its file was submitted for official endorsement.

Ex-Mauritanian president faces human rights charges; may go to Qatar
This came at a time when legal organizations in Mauritania and Europe are trying to file judicial cases against Weld al-Taye under the charges of violating human rights and practicing torture against political prisoners, and corruption during his rule which lasted for 21 years.

Mauritania opposition gives up armed struggle
The coalition of Mauritania opposition on Monday announced giving up armed struggle, and gave support for a period of consultation after the regime change in the coupe which was led by the chairman of the military council Maj. Gen. Ala Weld Muhammad Faal on August 3.
