Four were sentenced to life imprisonment over Mauritania coupe
Following two days of deliberations, the criminal court in Nouakchott on Thursday gave final sentences on 100 civilian and military men accused of being involved in two failed coupe attempts against the government of President Mu'aweya Wedl Seidi Ahmad al-Taye'.

The criminal court in Wad al-Naqqa to the east of the Mauritanian capital on Sunday resumed its sessions in the context of trying 195 military and civilian persons accused of being involved in three coupe attempts that took place in 2003 and 2004, by bringing five detainees before the judiciary.
