Lebanese- Egyptian talks in support of economic cooperation
The Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri called for signing a joint agreement between Egypt and Lebanon with the aim of increasing the volume of trade exchange to half a billion dollars and to remove all customs barriers and facilitate movement of goods between the two states.

The spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency Majid Abdul Fattah said following the end of talks between the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and the Lebanese prime minister Rafic Hariri on Wednesday that President Mubarak discussed with Hariri "the recent developments in Lebanon and the decision taken by the Lebanese parliament on September 3 to extend the term of office for the Lebanese President Emil Lahoud for one half of a term of office (3 years)."
