Iraqi president re-elected, new prime minister designate
CNN reported today that a the Iraqi parliament has re-elected the Iraqi President Jalal Talibani for a second term of office. Talibani, in turn assigned a new prime minister designate to form a new government, after four months of failed effort to form a new government under the previous Prime Minster Ibrahim al-Jaafari, blamed for weak leadership.
