By making sure that interests of the individual are served, we will ensure that society's interests are properly served. By looking for interest of society, we can risk dictatorship that speaks on behalf of "society".

There is something fundamentally wrong with the way societies today go about writing laws and enforcing them. This amendment, is self-evident in its correctness. The mere fact that a society will have to learn a whole new way of doing things is not a defense for continuing to do something that is very wrong.

With the brutal dictatorship of Saddam Hussein, it is hard to see how a new constitution, no matter how bad it is, that it would not be an improvement over the past. But the question should be: is this the best that Iraqis can do?
