Guardian report: Concern of misspending of 20 billion dollars of Iraqi aid
The UK Guardian reported yesterday in a report about the US aid to Iraq and the way it is being spent that "We have a sort of 'obligate-it-and-forget-it' approach to a lot of this,'" according to Anthony Cordesman, a former State and Defense Department official "who just returned from a visit to Iraq with a firsthand assessment of the reconstruction."

Portuguese woman injured, two kidnapped in attack on journalists south of Baghdad
One Portuguese journalist was injured in her foot yesterday and another Portuguese joirnalist was kidnapped in an attack against a convoy for journalists when it was heading to Baghdad through the Kuwaiti borders.

Four Americans killed, intensified operations against resistance
One American soldier was killed and another two wounded in an attack near the central part of Baghdad, making the number of the Americans who were killed within the 24 hours four. An American military spokesman said that the recent attack took place on yesterday, Friday evening, when an explosive went off in an American group of the first armored contingent.

Some 18 Italians were killed and several Iraqis in an attack in Nasereyah. The number of victims of the booby trapped car attack against the headquarters if the Italian forces in Nasereyah, to the south of Iraq, increased to 18 persons of whom 15 were soldiers. This is the greatest loss inflicted in the lines of the Italian army since the second world war.

Mubarak warns against attitudes to partition Iraq
Egypt's Presidemt Hosni Mubarak yesterday called on Israel to collaborate with the new Palestinian government chaired by Ahmad Qrei. He considered that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon "is able to achieve progress on the road of peace" calling for "stopping violation of the Iraqi land and stopping any influence for any of the neighboring states," while he also warned against any conflict towards partition or cessation."

New attack on occupation headquarters in Baghdad; Sanchez: 5,000 detainees including 20 al-Qaida members
Commander of the American (US) forces in Iraq Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez yesterday warned against the possibility of increased attacks against the American forces in Iraq. He disclosed that his forces arrested ( 20 foreign fighters ), noting that they are carrying the Syrian, Sudanese, Yemeni and Egyptian nationalities. This came at a time when attacks escalated against the Iraqi police especially in al-Basra where 6 Iraqis were killed in a bomb explosion.
