Inspection commission could begin work in Iraq
Now that a core of staff has been recruited and trained by the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC), work in Iraq could begin, according to a new report released Thursday at UN Headquarters in New York.

The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Ismat Abdul Miguid has asserted the importance of an Arab move at the meantime in order to break the state of stalemate in the Iraqi issue, in implementation of the AL council meeting held in March 1999 and the agenda of the consultation meeting of the Arab foreign ministers held in January of the same year.

Iraq earns another $479 million under UN oil-for-food program
Iraq last week exported 17.2 million barrels of oil, earning an estimated $479 million for the United Nations humanitarian "oil-for-food" program, according to the latest figures released Tuesday by the UN office administering the scheme.

Iraqi economic delegation in Egypt
Egypt 's minister of the economy and foreign trade Youssef Butrous Ghali on Tuesday in Cairo met with Iraq's minister of commerce Muhammad Mahdi Saleh, who arrived in Cairo earlier in the day, leading an economic delegation to take part in the meetings of the 8th session of the joint committee on Iraqi - Egyptian trade cooperation due to start works today Wednesday.
