Preliminary statistics show that the rate of turnout among voters for the referendum of "national reconciliation and peace charter " in Algeria reached 17% for Thursday morning. A weak rate, amid expectation of an increased turnout after the Algerians finish their work day.

Butaflika seeks reconciliation, but not completely
The Algerian President Abdul Aziz Butaflika announced, at a time when he is trying to promote a pardon law for reconciliation among Algerians to put the past behind them, while delivering a speech in al-Aghwat city on Sunday, that leaders of the banned Islamic Salvation Front "who set the fire of sedition in Algeria during the 15 years of terrorism, cannot practice any political activity."
