Algerian envoy kidnapped in Baghdad, 15 Iraqis killed
the Muslim Scholars Commission said that the forces of the Iraqi ministry of the Interior detained Sheikh Ahmad Qasem al-Najjar, member of the commission and Imam and preacher of al-Haq mosque in al-Shaab quarters, east Baghdad. The commission said that the force broke into the house of the Sheikh and damaged its content.

Algerian government decided to desolve the municipal council which was appointed, rather than elected in the Kbyle area (Berbers area) during the local elections for 2002, and to give this area new elections whose date was not set yet.
