Senate commission debates Sahara issue
Morocco, Politics, 12/31/1999

The foreign affairs, occupied zones and national defense committe at the chamber of advisors (upper chamber) examined in Rabat Wednesday issues related to the Sahara, relations with countries of the Arab Maghreb Union and illegal immigration.

The committee chairman said that after an expose by Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Minister Benaissa and debates, councillors hailed the decision to set up a royal commission in charge of the follow-up of Saharan affairs as the adequate framework to be in charge of the kingdom's territorial integrity issue.
