Government adopts labor code project
Morocco, Economics, 12/31/1999
The government adopted Thursday the draft labor code, the government's spokesman, Khalid Alioua announced.
The bill still needs to go through the ministers council, held under the chairmanship of the king and the parliament's two chambers, before being a full-fledged law.
The spokesman, who is also minister of social development, solidarity, employment and vocational training, said diverging points with trade unions can be overcome during discussions of the project at the parliament.
He explained that divergence between the government and the unions are minor and are mainly related to representation, relations between employers and wage-earners and relations between unions. He added that all parties agreed on 572 items out of the 578 ones.
