FAO backs Algeria to implement its food program

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has discussed with the director of the World Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Jacques Dayouf, during their meeting in Algiers on Wednesday several bilateral issues between Algeria and the FAO, as well as relations between thhe FAO and the African states as Algeria is the current president of the Organization of African Unity.

In a statement to reporters following the meeting, Dayouf stated that Algeria, at present, is intensifying its food production and developing its agricultural sector. He stressed the FAO's backing for Algeria in implementing its agricultural program.

Dayouf added that his talks with the Algerian president also focused on standing cooperation relations between Algeria and the FAO as well as major world crises, including famines and agricultural development in Africa as well as programs applied in these areas to intensify food production, control water resources and verify livestock production and sea fishing.
