15 foreign cities attend Agadir earthquake anniversary

Fifteen cities from twelve different countries will be attending in February events held in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the earthquake which levelled the city of Agadir in 1960.
The "Agadir 2000" committee says for ten days the city plays host to several cultural and artistic events as well as to seminars on issues related to earthquakes, architecture and city planning and extension.
Refurbishment works of the city Kasbah and the construction of a memorial for the 40,000 killed in the 1960 earthquake will be launched. A permanent photo exhibit depicting the tragedy will be inaugurated.
