President Bin Ali, King Mohammed call for Arab summit

Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Bin Ali and Morocco's King Mohammed VI have called, in a joint statement following talks in Tunis on Tuesday, for an Arab summit as soon as possible in view of the present situation in the Arab states.

The two heads of state stressed the importance for Arab states to promote joint action, consolidate the Arab League mechanisms and institutions to support the evolution of the situation in the Arab, regional and international scenes.

Regarding bilateral relations, the two heads of state were satisfied regarding the evolution in fraternal relations between the two states and lauded the good level of political consultation and bilateral cooperation. They were also satisfied at the accomplishments made since the 7th session of the Moroccan-Tunisian high joint commission in September 1999.
