Final rehearsal of Egypt's millennium celebrations today

The final rehearsal of Egypt's third millennium celebrations titled "The Twelve Dreams of the Sun" will be carried out today.
French director Jean Michael Jarre and head of Cairo Opera House Dr. Mustafa Nagi will run the final rehearsal with the participation of 500 Egyptian and foreign artists.
Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni will present a report to the higher committee, in charge of the third millennium celebrations under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Atef Ebeid today.
Meanwhile, Jarre told al-Ahram Hebdo that the "The Twelve Dreams of the Sun" show respects Egypt's cultural and religious traditions.
The CNN late Tuesday reported that though preparations are afoot in world countries for the new millennium, celebrations in Egypt will have a distinguished taste.
"A festive panoramic gala, to be choreographed and orchestrated by renowned French artist Jean Michel Jarre, will be staged on Friday at the foot of the Giza pyramids," added the all-news network.
"The Twelve Dreams of the Sun" , the official title of the gala, that will usher in the year 2000, will be aired live to millions of TV viewers across the world.
Up to 60,000 people are expected to attend. The millennium show will feature a colorful variety of musical masterpieces, signing, traditional lyrics, with laser works dazzling the whole scene where the world's most vivid wonders are standing proudly.
Reuters reported that Egypt's celebrations would be the most distinguished in the world, adding that the electronic opera will attract millions of viewers throughout the world.
