Increase in Visa card usage in the Gulf

The use of the Visa international credit card in countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates) during the first half of the current year increased as the total paid amounts reached $13.5 billion US in Visa cards in comparison to $6.6 billion during the same period of last year in an increase reaching 103%.
Statistic by the US - Saudi Bank in Riyadh clarified that Saudi Arabia occupied the first position among the Gulf states in dealing with the Visa cards as it has reached $4.9 billion, followed by Kuwait ($4.8 billion), the UAE ($2.9 billion), Qatar ($382 million), Bahrain ($2.94 million) and Oman ($39 million).
