65 Sudanese deputies appeal El-Bashir's decision before constitutional court
Sudan, Politics, 12/29/1999
65 Sudanese deputies presented an appeal to the constitutional court to demand the cancellation of Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir's decision to dissolve the parliament and impose a state of emergency.
The lawyers who presented the appeal stated that El-Bashir's decision forms a violation of the constitution and liberties.
Sudanese Vice President Ali Othman Taha said that the government will agree to any decision taken by the constitutional court.
Taha asserted that the president's procedures, taken on December 12, were a step for reform that will be followed by others.
