Communications for convening meeting between El-Bashir, opposition leaders

Official Sudanese political sources said that Egypt and Libya presented a proposal to the Sudanese parties that call for convening a meeting between Sudanese President Omar El-Bashir and leaders of the opposition.

The opposition leaders include Democratic National Alliance: Mohamed Othman El-Merghany, leader of the assembly and chairman of the Democratic Unionist Party; El-Sadek El-Mahdi, chief of the Ummah Party; and Colonel John Garang, chief of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement.

The sources considered it likely that the meeting will be convened in Cairo under the under the auspices of Egypt and Libya, as it will be a preliminary step toward the collective discussion conference that could replace the meeting of the preparatory committee, which obstacles in the DNA has prevented from forming till now.
