Israeli intensive political activity after Shas threat to withdraw from coalition
Israel, Politics, 12/28/1999
The factional and political arena in Israel is witnessing intensive activity after the declaration made by the Shas movement concerning its withdrawal from the governmental coalition for not fulfilling its governmental budgetary demands.
Israel Radio said today that Israeli President Ezer Weizman met yesterday with the chief of the movement, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Eliyahu Yishai, in an attempt to persuade the movement to change this decision and that Yishai responded to the request of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak concerning delaying the date of withdrawal from the coalition for 24 hours.
