Arab League: Israel steals Arab waters
Regional, Politics, 12/28/1999

A report prepared by the Arab League has warned against the consequences of Israeli thefts of Arab waters, asserting that it takes 80% of the renewable waters in the West Bank and then sells 20% of these waters to the Palestinians.

The report added that Israel also takes the Palestinian underground waters and then resells them to the Palestinians at a price of $1 US for each cubic meter, which means that Israel sells each barrel of waters at a higher price than one barrel of oil.

The report said that Israel gets 40% of its water needs from the water resources available in the occupied Arab territories in the Golan and south Lebanon and large amounts of the waters of the Jordan River, adding that the Israeli practices concerning water contributed to creating a great water crisis in certain countries neighboring Palestine, as happened during the past two years in Jordan.
