US voices backing for Algeria
Algeria-USA, Politics, 12/28/1999

An Algerian official source has announced that the US has informed the Algerian authorities of its "total availability" in backing cooperation with Algeria, the Algerian News Agency said on Sunday night.

It added that US leaders, including President Bill Clinton, "expressed their commitment at the sides of Algeria, in particular following the announcement of the presidential plan on civil harmony, which received the people's strong support in the referendum of September 16, intending to set up an atmosphere of serenity and stability able to favour the revival of economy and partnership."

The Algerian news agency said the director general of the US Export-Import Bank, James Harmon, told the Algerian President in a message published on Saturday in Algeria that that board of the US bank has ratified the expansion of its projects addressed to Algeria, in guaranteeing "unlimited long-term loans."
