Millennium celebrations, a message from Land of Civilization

President Hosni Mubarak on Saturday inspected the Pyramids area where Egypt's Third Millennium celebrations will be staged on the night of January 1st, 2000.
Mubarak toured the location of the planned show and listened to a detailed explanation from Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni on the program of the celebrations, organized by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Ministries of Defense, Information, Tourism, Interior, Electricity and Communications.
The Millennium Celebrations, to be transmitted live via satellite, will be produced by French Director Jean Michael Jarre.
Up to 60,000 people are expected to attend. The Millennium show will include a colorful variety of musical masterpieces, singing, traditional lyrics, with laser flashes spotted at the pyramids.
Information Minister Safwat Al Sherif quoted President Mubarak as having said that what is overwhelmingly dazzling about Egypt's coming celebrations is the Pyramids, one of the World Seven Wonders.
The President said that the celebrations will serve as a message to the whole World from the Land of Civilizations.
According to the Information Minister, Mubarak played up the need to care about details in order to produce a gala fitting Egypt and its civilization.
The President spoke of the need to secure order for tourists and foreigners in the tents area and provide all services and order to the location designed to the youth, said the Minister.
President Mubarak stressed that all participants should be informed of the importance of respecting customs, traditions and values associated with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The Information and Tourism Ministers briefed President Mubarak on the other locations from which the Millennium celebrations will be aired live.
The sunset moments will be transmitted to the whole world as part of a gala of Nile boats on a trip through the river to downtown Cairo.
A Pharaonic show on Egypt as the land of monotheism, planned at the media production city, will also be aired live.
The Karnak temple in Luxor will witness a show of wedding parties of brides and bridegrooms from different parts of the world, serving as a remainder of Pharaonic weddings.
President Mubarak reviewed arrangements for the press center which will serve thousands of Journalists and Media Men.
Minister of Interior Habib Al Adly briefed the President on the traffic operations during the Millennium celebrations, including ins and outs of the celebrations area and the security plan.
The Electricity and Communications Ministers updated Mubarak on their ministries' arrangements for the celebrations.
Technicians are about to put the final touches to Egypt's celebrations of the Third Millennium.
The celebration drew interest of world bodies concerned with following up aspects of celebrating the coming century all over the world.
The CNN said yesterday that world indications affirmed that Egypt's gala jumped to the first rank among other countries' celebrations.
Minister of Culture Farouq Hosni Saturday toured the gala site and watched some rehearsals where laser was used to depict marvelous pictures on the Pyramids and fireworks.
"Egypt's celebration of the Third Millennium coincides with its celebration of the 7th Millennium of its civilization," said Hosni.
The stage was set to host one thousand Egyptian and world artists who will participate in the show designed by French artist Jean Michel Jarre under the title "12 Dreams of the Sun."
