Morocco's Raja football club in Brazil for world clubs cup
Morocco, Sports, 12/27/1999

Morocco's Raja club of Casablanca left Morocco on Sunday for Brazil, where it will defend Moroccan and African football in the first world clubs championships, to be held in Sao Paolo, Brazil, January 5-15.

Raja's Argentine coach, Oscar Fullone, opted for an early trip to Brazil to help his players adapt to the weather in Brazil and to prepare for the championships.

The Moroccans will represent Africa as winners of the African Champions League. Before the championships, they will play a trial match on Wednesday against Brazilian club, Vasco De Gama.

"We head for Brazil without any inferiority complex," Raja manager, Ahmed Amor, told the press, adding his team will play the championships with home players.

"We rely on ourselves, and what is important is to honor Morocco and Africa," Amor said. Raja is well prepared for the event, he said.

Raja will play in Group A together with Real Madrid (Spain), Corinthians (Brazil) and Annasr (Saudi Arabia).

Raja will play its first match against Corinthians on January 5.
