Youssoufi back from Bethlehem end of millennium celebrations
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 12/27/1999

Morocco's Premier Abderrahmane Youssoufi returned to Rabat Sunday coming back from Palestine where he represented King Mohammed VI in events held in celebration of the end of the millennium.

Youssoufi held Saturday a work meeting with President Yasser Arafat on developments in the peace process and Morocco's role in the defense of Palestinian rights. The premier was decorated with the "Bethlehem 2000" insignia in homage for ceaseless support to the Palestinian cause by the kingdom under the leadership of the late King Hassan II and King Mohammed VI.

Moroccan attendance of celebrations in Bethlehem is a token of unconditional support to the Palestinian right to set up an independent state with Jerusalem as capital, Arafat said.

Andre Azoulay, Adviser to the King, who was part of the Moroccan party said upon return "we have lived in Bethlehem and at the side of President Arafat an exceptional moment, a moment of great hope."
