Israeli Knesset member voices solidarity with Syrians in the Golan
Syria-Israel, Politics, 12/27/1999

Member of the Israeli Knesset from the United Arab List, Muhammad Kanan, said members of his movement will visit the occupied Golan in order to announce their complete solidarity with the Syrian citizens in the Golan at the beginning of the Syrian-Israeli peace negotiations for the return of the Golan to Syria.

In a speech he delivered on Sunday during a tour by the parliamentary Internal Affairs and Environment Committee in the Golan's villages that was quoted by the Israeli Radio, Kanan stressed that the United Arab List will support the people of the Golan and maintain solidarity with their demands for the return of the Golan to Syria.

Meanwhile, Israeli Knesset member Issam Makhoul asserted that the Golan is an occupied Syrian territory over which negotiations are underway to return the Golan back to Syria.
